Love, what have you done to me?

Have you had that feeling yet?  The flutter in your stomach when you see their name appear across your cell phone screen or when that song comes on the radio explaining exactly what you feel you close your eyes and belt out every word.
Have you sat in a busy subway car or bus and through all the chitter chatter, foul smells, pushing and shoving, a smile comes across your face because you are playing back last night in your mind.  You playback all the words uttered and all the feelings felt.
The days can't seem to move fast enough because you are anticipating the next time you will smell his cologne, kiss his neck, lay your head on his chest and listen to his heartbeat.
Anytime is the right time. It's whenever, wherever.

Small World -Chapter One Cont'd

Guess where we are going on the 24th?” said Camille into the phone, while stepping from side to side to the music playing in her head.
“Where are we going?” said Kellie
“To the Mead-ow-lands“ she sang into the phone.
“Say word” said Kellie
“Word.. You, Caprise, Troi and I are going. “I just won four front row tickets on the radio to see Brian McKnight, Chico Debarge and my future husband Maxwell.
“Say word” said Kellie
“Word, I said“
“ You are too fucking lucky”, every time I turn around you winning something.” “I love Brian McKnight“,” what am I’m going to wear?” “What are your wearing?”
“I just won the tickets.” I ain’t thought about it yet, Damn.
Camille heard a brief beep on the line.
“Hold on , I got another call.”
“House of beauty, this is Cutie” said Camille into the receiver.
‘Hey stranger ” chimed the voice on the other end.
“Hey, I’m on the other line with Kellie, hold on.”
“Kell, that‘s Dave on the other line, let me hear what he has to say, I’ll call you back later.” “Do me a favor, call Caprise and tell her the good news.”
“Aiight girl” said Kellie I’ll talk to you later and be nice.”
“Whatever”.

Camille, Caprise and Kellie arrived at the Meadowlands an hour before the 8pm show was set to start. We were looking extra fine that night so we decided to kill some time taking pictures. Just as Caprise was about to snap the picture some chick jumps right in our picture.
Kellie was about to whip out my can of whip ass, when she recognized the chick was Troi.
“What are you doing here?” said Camille.
Troi had told us that she had a prior engagement and that she would catch up with us the following night.
“Well there was a change in plans” said Troi.
“Kyle meet my crazy ass friends. They are like sisters to me, Camille, Kelli and Caprise. After introducing us she and Kyle went off and we didn’t see them for the rest of the night.
Troi was the uninhibited one of the group. She changed men like she changed her underwear. She longed for commitment but never stayed with a man long enough to get to know him. Troi needed to realize that she looked for all the wrong qualities in men. She looked for men who could provide her with material items, like jewelry, cars and trips. In high school she always dated the big time drug dealers. When one went to jail she would find another.
Maxwell did his thing that night. His caramel skin and wild sexy hair turning all the women on. When he took off his shirt the audience wooed in unison. Brian McKnight was never my cup of tea but he had others swinging their hands from side to side as he belted out One Last Cry. Chico DeBarge had all the mamis going crazy.
Camille kept shouting over and over “you can get it Chico, you can get it.”

Small World -Chapter One

CAMILLE
Camille sat alone in her living room, which at that hour seemed
suspended in time. The melody of sad slow love song bellowed in the background. Her legs had grown tiresome of pacing the floor anticipating Dave’s return. She sat and wondered where and what he was doing. She awoke earlier to an empty bed and resigned yet again to a breakfast alone. Camille felt a surge of anger and seething resentment. Things had been going so well with Dave. She had finally found happiness after one of the most tumultuous years of her life and he was truly fucking it up.
Camille had been dating Dave for almost a year now. She met him at her gym, Platinum Fitness. She had just arrived to take her Wednesday night Cardio Funk class and he was finishing up repairing a broken glass in one of the studios. She could feel his eyes on her backside as she sashayed across the room. The class began to fill up and he quickly made his exit.
Camille was a pretty girl; she stood about five feet four, one hundred and fifty pounds, mostly booty. She was the complexion of a diet peach Snapple, with medium length hair and a dimple on her left cheek that was simply irresistible.
It was now seven o’clock in the evening and dark out. Daylight savings time really made the day steal away quickly. Camille tried Dave’s cell and just as she expected the call went straight to voicemail. She slapped her cell shut refusing to leave anymore messages, eight was enough.
Camille turned out the lights in the house and retreated to her bedroom. She stepped out her clothes and slipped into bed. She reached over to clock radio on her night stand , hit the alarm set for six in the morning and grabbed her cell phone.
"What’s up girl?" chimed the voice on the other end.
"I give up" , exclaimed Camille into the phone.
"What happened now" said Kellie
" I cannot win for losing, something has got to give" I mean , really. Why do I keep getting the short end of the stick?"
"This man leaves out before I even wake up and he’s not back yet. Its going on eight o’clock now and he hasn’t even called.
"Calm down, I’m sure he has a reason." said Kellie. "Maybe his phone is dead? "
The words burst out from her "Oh, so a pay phone is out of the question?" I don’t think so. Just wait till he gets in here, its on" said Camille
"Don’t do nothing crazy, be easy." said Kellie
Camille was no stranger to drama in her life.
Only a year ago, she had divorced her husband, Sean after three years of marriage. They were high school sweethearts and each other’s first. They were young when they married and couldn’t handle the commitment once it was official. Somehow, that piece of paper changed everything. They remained friends but tried their best to keep their distance from each other whenever they were involved in relationships.

Excerpt from... “The Love Story that Never Happened”

I smiled to myself as I briskly walked to my car. In the distance I could see the silhouette of a woman similar in contrast to myself. Is that her? I said to myself. I could not help myself. I wanted to see for myself who it was that I was filling the void of. I slowed my pace just enough so that our paths could cross. Did she look like me? . I didn’t really need to know, but something in me wanted to know. I wanted to know what similarities we had that made him choose me despite having her.
She wore a burgundy peacoat with black slacks and a pair of stiletto boots, I’m sure from Nine West because I owned the same in a chocolate brown shade. Her hair was long and bouncy. I could tell she went for weekly sets at the Dominicans. She hugged her Gucci bag close to her body. She had a taste for the finer things. She had a heir about her that made it apparent that she thought she was the shit. Luckily for me, he didn’t think so.
I jumped in my car, plugged in my headset and started the ignition. I could still smell his cologne and every time I thought about our escapade I felt a shiver in my bones. Caught up in my replay of the evenings events the vibration of my cell brought my out of my trance. The number on my cell showed up as private. I usually didn’t pick up calls from private numbers but I was puzzled as to who it could be so I answered hesitantly. "Hello?" "Where are you" the voice replied. It was my honey. "I’m on my way home" I said. "You’ve gotta come back" he said. "Why, are you missing me already?", Well, Yeah he said" but you left your purse" he said almost whispering. "What?" I replied. "I’m on my way back". My heart was now beating out of my chest. I quickly made a u-turn and headed back from whence I came. My mind was racing. Did she find it?, No, she couldn’t have, he sounded too calm. How is he gonna get out the house? He’ll think of something. Don’t worry, just hurry. I was asking and answering my own questions. The lights couldn’t change fast enough. I felt like I was catching every red light. This is exactly what I get, messing with someone else’s man.
